Holi is an Indian festival of colours where people enjoy by throwing coloured powder and coloured water on each other. It's one of the most recognizable Indian festivals internationally with Coldplay featuring Holi in their recently released video "Hymn For The Weekend".
I am an amateur film maker studying in IIT Bombay and it had been a while since I had a video. I was getting restless. On Holi, me and my friends were celebrating but I couldn't involve much since I was recuperating from a fractured foot. So they handed me a camera and told me to take pictures. That was when the whole idea to shoot a video. I went all around campus taking candid shots for like 5 hours.
The next day, I painstakingly went through all the footage and zeroed down on what to use. I am an EDM fan and my favourite song at the time was Martin Garrix's "Break Through The Silence". So I decided to go ahead with that. I start putting together the video and released a teaser the following day.  It got 300 hits which was a pretty big deal for me. I sat on the video continuously and finally published it two days later, on March 28th. It garnered a lot of views on campus and even caught the eye of my professor, who shared it on his course website as well, which is a huge honour for me :)
The same Insti Wali Holi has humble origins. In IIT, we call our campus Insti, short for Institute. Insti Wali Holi is basically in Hindi which translates to "Insti's Holi".
I edited the entire video on Adobe Premiere Pro CC, using Twixtor Pro for the slow motion parts. Recently, a friend of mine introduced me to Magic Bullet Looks which makes Color Correction very easy. I got a mail from Adobe about ADAA 2016 and decided to submit my video after color correcting it. I color corrected and uploaded it as Insti Wali Holi 2.0.
Hope you enjoy and find it worthy of ADAA :)
